I am probably going to write something up on the Colorado story later this weekend. There are so many levels to that game that I want to let it stew a bit before I discuss. Needless to say but wow…what a start to the season. This weekly recap will start adding undefeated teams and rankings once we have at least the majority of teams playing 3-4 games. Until then, the usual bullet points of random thoughts about the games, teams, players and other stuff.
Lots of rated teams playing inferior competition. Some looked very good, some looked lethargic, some looked like they were breaking in new QBs. But they all won. Except TCU.
Florida sucks. Like a lot. Gonna be a long season in the Swamp
Utah looked damned good especially without Cam Rising. But again, Florida sucks. Like a lot.
Hahahaha ESPN halftime guy throwing shade at the Big 10 (Fox League). He goes to the Minnesota vs Nebraska highlights and goes the Big 10 is in mid season form w 3-0 game at half. I noticed way more open sniping at other networks and conferences. Love to see it.
How old are we getting? I didnt list them all, but how about all these next gen players? Antonio Gates kid plays for Sparty, CMU QB is Bert Emanuel’s kid, saw Blaine Gabberts brother also. Sam Adams kid is at Washington, and of course both of Deions kids.
I learned this weekend Iowa Offensive Coordinator Ferentz (HC brother) has a contract clause that calls for his removal if the team does not average 25 points a game. As a person who has been subjected to one 7-3 half after another for like 10 years from Iowa, I am of course rooting for the under. Iowa won the game…24-14. I am 1-0. Don’t hate the player, hate the game…
Purdue sucks. Not a lot like Florida, but just the usual amount.
How about a little QB Talk? Its just 1 or in some cases 2 games, but wow…there are some QBs just balling. I know a lot of Pro level guys left, but holy shit. The good includes Penix, Nix, Williams, Sanders, Maye, Hartman and much more. The new guys at the big 3 were: Bama Milroe had 5 TDs…looks like a reload; Ohio State McCord did not impress me at all; Georgia Beck was ok. I liked what I saw from Penn St and new QB Drew Allar
Impressive upset call from Pat McAfee on Colorado. I really cannot stand McAfee. It’s gonna reduce my Gameday watching. I respect the brand he has built, I just hate the brand. But I also could never stand Howard Stern. Just not a shock jock fan and PM is just a new age shock jock. Blech.
Speaking of Gameday, Lee Corso really really doesn’t like Deion Sanders. Also I learned today that since his stroke, Corso has a script for the show that he memorizes because he can’t adlib anymore. Whatever it takes Coach…just keep showing up.
OK, just a little about the Colorado upset. This was a historic game that I will never forget. Like I said, I will be writing in more detail but this was a spectacular game. Prime coached his fucking ass off. Dude can barely walk but he is a legend. QB Sanders throws for 510 yards in his first D1 game against the National Runner Up on the road in 90 degree heat. Travis Hunter played offense and defense. Easily over 100 plays I think. Incredible interception, big catch after big catch, more passes defended than I could count especially in key moment. My friend Reese says. Hunter is that guy. I think he is right. I haven’t seen a 2 way player like that since, um…Deion Sanders. Or what about true freshmen Dylan Edwards who had 4 TDs today. Or Jimmy Horn who had 117 yards receiving. Or Xavier Howard who had 118 yards receiving. I mean I could go on and on.
My Heisman Votes-1) Travis Hunter 2) Shedeur Sanders 3) Dylan Edwards :-)
Thats it for now, feel free to share. Big game tomorrow night with LSU vs FSU.
Just dropping specific love for the soon to be defunct Pac 12. Only conference with no non-conference losses and a couple of really solid wins.
